MORE THAN JUST BUBBLES – The Smart Approach To Your Bath

Bath time is more important to our wellbeing than we imagine. Think about it. This is the only time we’re truly alone; away from work, the noisy household, phones, computers, friends, partners and children. Therefore, it’s absolutely essential that we don’t take this precious time for granted (even if it’s just a quick shower) and make the best out of it.

Utilizing Your Bath Time

Choosing the right products is one way of making the most out of your bath time. With all the information available, we’ve definitely become more cautious about what we apply to our skin. And the time when it was all about the quantity of foam in our baths has long passed. In fact, nowadays, you’ll probably struggle to find a label that doesn’t say ‘sulfate free’ or ‘paraben free’.  Yes, we’ve come a long way from bubbles and instead we’re reading further into the ingredients, looking for components that are beneficial and gentle to our skin.

However, having said that, many of us still dismiss the importance of the scent in our products.

Scent And Wellbeing

Sense of smell is the most developed and primitive of all our senses, which makes scent play an integral role in our physical and emotional health. Have you ever experienced a vivid memory of a person or a place, simply by smelling a particular scent? This is because scent travels through our noses where we have more than 800 million nerve endings, into the oldest and deepest parts of our brain – the Limbic System. This system is responsible for our survival instincts and emotions. And this is why the power of scent has the ability to trigger emotional and physical responses in us.

The sense of smell is integral to many cultures and life practices. These uses include sacred and ritualistic practices such anointing with fragrant oils and offering rites to Gods; embalming and medicinal practices; as cosmetics fumigants and mood altering substances; as spiritual and philosophical healing systems; and for ritual stimulation dreams and visions.1

My Beauty Insider Recommends:

For evenings, look for products which include ingredients such as: Vetivert, Camomile, Sandalwood, Lavender, Rose Geranium, Clary Sage, Bergamot, Jasmine, Sweet Marjoram and Ylang Ylang.

Real Luxury Intensive Skin Treatment Candle

While you are soaking in the tub, I suggest burning this luxury skin treatment candle. The Neom Scent ‘To De-Stress’ has a deeply calming effect on your mind and body. This particular blend of Lavender, Jasmine and Brazilian Rosewood, can help you banish stress for a good night’s sleep.

Lavender is one of the most common aromas that benefits anxiety disorder. It helps de-stress and relax you better than most. When inhaled it essentially slows down your fast wave brain activity (the root of anxiety) and replaces this with slower wave alpha brain wave activity.3

Jasmine possesses very strong nerve calming affects, in fact almost just as good as the powerful anti-anxiety drug Valium. Jasmine does this by increasing the GABA activity within the brain to help regulate feelings of stress, anxiety, and over-excitement.

This candle doesn’t just smell divine, it also provides dry, stressed skin that’s in need of extra nourishment with moisture. After burning for 30 minutes, you may use its oil over any part of your body in need of hydration. Neom Organics products contain the highest possible percentage of the purest possible essential oils, which not only smell wonderful but have true therapeutic benefits for your mind and body.

English Lavender Bath & Shower Gel

If you don’t have time for a bath, or prefer showers, then you can use Neal’s Yard Remedies’ fragrant body wash in the shower. It’s enriched with skin soothing herbal extracts. It gently cleanses and leaves the body delicately fragranced with Lavender scent.

For mornings, look for products with refreshing ingredients that will increase your productivity and help to elevate your mood. These include Orange, Rosemary and Lemon.

Energy Bank Shower Gel

This shower gel is my husband’s favourite, and considering he wakes-up at 5 am for work, it must work! This shower gel is supercharged with Orange, Bergamot and Rosemary, Geranium, Ylang Ylang, Patchouli, Cedar and Sandalwood; a perfect recipe to stimulate productivity and relieve stress at the same time.

Rosemary is a great multi-purpose aromatherapy tool. It’s stimulating and energizing so it’s perfect when you need improved concentration. It also helps your memory, tackles exhaustion and reduces headaches. Moreover, Rosemary reduces cortisol levels in the bloodstream, leading to lower levels of stress.4

Revive Morning Bath & Shower Oil

If your skin is in need of extra nourishment or you simply want to save time and skip using a moisturiser, this bath/shower oil is perfect for you. It’ll leave your skin thoroughly moisturized without that greasy, oily feeling.

The invigorating powers of Grapefruit, Rosemary and Juniper essential oils help to shrug off any sluggishness before showering and prepare you for the day ahead. Grapefruit is a refreshing and invigorating scent, which increases energy levels. It’s also great at balancing your mind to avoid over-stimulation. Grapefruit even reduces stress and depression, and improves the immune health.
