Best Winter Moisturizers That Don't Cause Breakouts
Best Winter Moisturizers That Don’t Cause Breakouts

Skin prone to breakouts can be oily and dehydrated at the same time, especially during the winter months. In addition, acne remedies often provoke even more irritation and dryness. Therefore, it’s important to moisturize your skin regardless your skin type.

I have combination/dry skin, which is prone to breakouts. And I often find that some oil-free moisturizers are just not hydrating enough, whereas oil-based ones cause breakouts and make my skin feel too “sticky”.

So after trying countless moisturizers, here are the ones that worked best on my skin:

Chantecaille Flower Harmonizing Cream

Moisturiser, Face Cream, Skincare Routine, My Beauty Insider

Chantecaille Flower Harmonizing Cream – This is my favourite and you’ll often see me mention it in my posts. This wonderfully complete moisturizing cream feels like “cashmere” on your skin. It nourishes and cocoons skin against stress and dryness. I particularly love its natural components and gorgeous smell.  It contains a full menu of essential oils, seaweed, vitamins and flowers, which feed the skin, reducing inflammation, increasing cellular turnover and promoting collagen production. Furthermore, it contains jasmine, mimosa and narcissus flowers which stimulate cell turnover and purify the skin. Blackcurrant and beech tree are included for their anti-inflammatory and antiseptic qualities. And finally edelweiss adds natural sun protection against the effects of UVA and UVB rays. It always leaves my skin silky smooth, hydrated and blemish free.

La Mer The Moisturizing Soft Cream

La Mer The Moisturizing Soft Cream  – I bought this moisturizer during a trip to New York last winter. I had run out of Chantecaille and I needed a good moisturizer for my dehydrated skin. I loved it! It delivers the same look of radiance and renewal that made the original Crème de la Mer. However, it’s less oily with a thinner texture, and therefore more suitable for combination skin types.  It makes skin look instantly more smooth, radiant and energized.

Sunday Riley Tidal Brightening Enzyme Water Cream

Sunday Riley Tidal Brightening Enzyme Water Cream –  I recently tried this cream and fell in love with it. This hyaluronic based cream is designed for all skin types but it’s just perfect for dry or dehydrated skin. It has a thin yet velvety texture that leaves your skin feeling fresh and nourished. I find its featherweight formula particularly ideal for dehydrated skin prone to breakouts. It provides high moisture levels without exacerbating congestion – keeping skin comfortably supple.  It also contains papaya enzymes, which gently resurface and eliminate dulling dead cells. And the alpha-arbutin and giant white bird of paradise extract brighten hyper-pigmentation spots.

SkinCeuticals Hydrating B5 Gel

If you feel like your moisturizer alone still isn’t doing the job then I suggest you try SkinCeuticals Hydrating B5 Gel.  I use this serum all year around. Sometimes, if my skin feels too oily during the summer then I use it instead of a moisturizer. It has a high concentration of Hyaluronic Acid and Vitamin B5 (an essential nutrient that promotes the skin barrier’s natural repair process). Its gel-like texture is non-oily and ideal for all skin types that need a serious hydration boost.
