First Signs of Ageing? Tips On Getting Your Glow Back

FIRST SIGNS OF AGEING

The first signs of ageing are dull skin, bigger pores and fine wrinkles. Most of us lose our young healthy glowing skin when we reach our mid or late 30s. While modern day beauty products and treatments keep us younger for longer, our lifestyle pushes us a step back. Long working hours, lack of natural light, sleep deprivation and parenthood all take their toll when it comes to ageing.

So I decided to share with you my morning and evening routine that combats all three signs of ageing is suitable for all the skin types. And I promise you will notice the difference in your skin appearance right away.

GOOD CLEANSING BRUSH

A good brush is a must in your morning and evening cleansing routine. Besides effectively removing all traces of makeup, it exfoliates and stimulates your blood circulation and paves the way for optimal absorption of any topical products applied thereafter. I personally prefer CLARISONIC (sensitive head).

GLYCOLIC ACID FACE WASH

Glycolic Acid essentially removes the “glue” from the upper layer of skin that holds onto the old, dead skin cells. Old skin layers prevent penetration of nutrients necessary for the regeneration and protection of the ageing skin. As glycolic acid exfoliates it removes this old skin, stimulating normal regeneration of skin cells. It also stimulates fibroblasts (connective tissue cells), which are responsible for the production of hyaluronic acid, collagen and elastin. Fine wrinkles appear considerably smoother, deep wrinkles become much less pronounced and your skin produces more moisture.

I’m a big fan of SkinCeuticals Blemish & Age Cleansing Gel. Not only does it provides all the above-mentioned benefits, it also prevents occasional breakouts and removes makeup better than any other cleansers I’ve tried. My Clarisonic brush always remains white and clean after I use it with this gel.

HYALURONIC ACID

I always follow-up with SkinCeuticals Hydrating B5. I can’t stop mentioning enough this product in my reviews because I’m completely addicted to it. It’s one of the best products to use on dehydrated skin. I use it alone or before my serum or moisturiser. I even add it to my foundation when my skin feels particularly thirsty.

VITAMIN C SERUM

Finally, I apply Vitamin C.  Whilst fighting against environmental damage, Vitamin C also brightens your complexion. At the moment, my favourite is Dermarché Labs BioREWIND AM Full-Spectrum Antioxidant Serum.  This product is packed with free radical-fighting antioxidants (Vitamins C and E) to deflect everyday environmental stress, while a cocktail of peptides supports synthesis of elastin and collagen to maintain your skin’s suppleness, resilience and glow.

MOISTURISER

If you feel like you still need more moisture, follow-up with a moisturiser. I love Chantecaille Flower Harmonizing Cream. This wonderfully complete moisturizing cream feels like “cashmere” on your skin. It contains a full menu of essential oils, seaweed, vitamins and flowers, which feed the skin, reducing inflammation, increasing cellular turnover and promoting collagen production. Furthermore, it contains jasmine, mimosa and narcissus flowers which stimulate cell turnover and purify the skin. Blackcurrant and beech tree are included for their anti-inflammatory and antiseptic qualities. And finally, Edelweiss adds natural sun protection against the effects of UVA and UVB rays. It always leaves my skin silky smooth, hydrated and blemish free.

    I know all beauty products has all of it’s unique offering but I’ve been reading a lot about alternative skin care like organic herbs and vegan diets. Avocado works great for skin care. I guess I could use a little of both.
